From Cosplay to Streams, Kiyo and her 15 year Cosplay Journey

We can’t help but reminisce about the magical moments that took place at Winter Wonderland weeks ago. And with that, we are here once again to share stories that are worth to read in the beginning of a new year! Along with other media partners of Cosplay.PH, we were given a chance to know more about Kiyo 키어!

Setsu-Ani was given a chance to submit three questions that we can ask of her to get to know her more. As the team is known for its Cosplay Spotlight segment, we decided to submit three (3) of difficult questions (as said by our past featured guests) for Kiyo to answer.

Question #1: You’ve already been cosplaying for 15 years, is there a particular franchise or series you won’t get tired of cosplaying a character from? 

Kiyo: Honestly, probably from the Monogatari Series. It’s quite a niche old anime but it’s one of my favourites. Over the years, I definitely found myself cosplaying and even revisiting my previous cosplays from that series multiple times.

Question #2: From the current pace of your career as a cosplayer, is there a particular goal you have set your eyes on for your 20th anniversary in the community?

Kiyo: Wow 20 years is kind of insane but at this point it’s creeping up on me slowly. I don’t really have anything planned as of right now, I’m pretty much a very take it as it comes kind of person so I don’t like to plan super far ahead into the future. However, since it’s been brought up I’ll definitely slowly start planning something grand for my community as a massive Thank You for all the love and support they’ve shown me throughout the years.

Question #3: How do you believe you can connect or inspire others through your streams as a content creator and as a cosplayer?

Kiyo: A lot of fans have come up to tell me how my content brightens their day or helps them through their tough times and that’s what I currently hope to achieve with my work. Initially, I made funny content but not really expecting any form of reciprocation, just doing things that amused me. But if it makes anyone feel the least bit better in whatever situation they’re in, then I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing!

What did we learn?

With Kiyo 키어 being one of the household names in the international cosplay scene, she has always been very connected to her audience and continues to keep her content both in cosplay and on streams to brighten everyone’s days. She may also still not believe that she is currently walking to her 2-decade milestone of being in the community, she fully accepts and sets her sights on not forgetting those who have supported her journey and plans to give back her thanks with her craft.
