A “bloody awesome” movie to see on the big screen!

The Chainsaw Man series by Tatsuki Fujimoto debuts in the big screen! If you’re a bit skeptical about film adaptations when certains arcs of series are adapted to films instead of being part of its sequel adaptations, that is not the case for Reze Arc.

Synopsis
Now, in a brutal war between devils, hunters, and secret enemies, a mysterious girl named Reze has stepped into his world, and Denji faces his deadliest battle yet, fueled by love in a world where survival knows no rules.

The film is a continuation of the series first season, where Denji here in the movie has fully transitioned as a Devil Hunter but encounters the said mysterious girl Reze, and then gets himself fighting for his life to avoid being assassinated by devils who are after his chainsaw heart / Pochita.
The Plot
It centers around the mysterious girl Denji met in a phone booth named Reze. Denji, being a young man, is easily swooned by Reze due to puberty and is always in a bind. We can always see him either following the flow of the moment or fight himself (in his mind) that his heart is loyal and belongs only to Makima.

Movie Overview
It was a good decision that the Reze arc was adapted as a movie before transitioning to the next arc.

There were no scenes from the manga that were left out being animated, even the special illustrations in between the Reze Arc were also animated and brought to life. One of it was actually already seen in the trailer of the movie, and it was one of the best things you can see in the big screen as a Chainsaw Man series fan.

It’s obvious that this film would focus and highlight Reze, but it felt like the Reze Arc was decided as a film so the staff and production team can go all out in introducing and bringing Reze to life in this film anime adaptation.

A particular scene of Reze was animated so smoothly that I came to that conclusion. Reze is one of my favorite characters in the series and knowing that we can see her now in this film was something huge to look forward to. Every scene with her was tailored like a romcom film, which complimented Denji who was always seen having monologues whenever shes with him.

Fans love to compare manga and anime adaptation panels especially those from notable manga spreads/panels, this is one of those films where you would easily spot them and be happy about it coming to life.

Besides Reze, our favorite characters from the first season of the TV Anime Adaptation and the newly introduced characters didn’t lack screentime. Everyone also had their fair share of wacky moments and epic scenes.

There were also a handful of notable scenes in the manga which were animated beautifully, or which I would say, bloody awesome for this instance. It adds to the feel that the difference of quality from the TV Anime can be seen. The series was already great, but this film took it to another level as expected from MAPPA.

The film theme songs were also a great addition for the film. Kenshi Yonezu has already cemented his songs in the series that it felt like its upcoming sequels after this won’t be the same anymore. Utada Hikaru’s collaboration with Kenshi Yonezu was very welcomed. “IRIS OUT” and “Jane Doe” are songs that were really tailored for the film, IRIS OUT is Denji’s and Jane Doe is Reze’s. You can check out the songs as both their Official MV’s are now available to enjoy!~

Overall verdict for this anime film adaptation is worth your time seeing in the big screen. The film may be rated as R-16 there were no censored scenes which a fan of this series might worry being censored out. You can see everything here and enjoy the intensity of the scenes and the action all through out. This film would definitely hype your up waiting for its sequel some time soon.
