The Infinity Castle Arc marks the finale of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba series, with the film’s announcement right after the airing of the fourth season’s finale. After Muzan Kibutsuji retreats into Infinity Castle, Tanjiro and the rest of the Demon Slayer Corps are trapped inside. The Demon Slayers are separated and begin battling numerous powerful demons as they search for Muzan.
SYNOPSIS
The Demon Slayer Corps members and Hashira fell and traversed the never-ending halls of Muzan’s Infinity Castle. Separated from each other, Tanjiro and the others stumble upon Upper Rank demons as they try to track down and defeat the demon king.
THE PLOT
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle is the first of the trilogy of the “Infinity Castle” arc from the manga, being the second film adaptation of the series, following Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train in 2020. The movie begins as a direct sequel to the Season 4 anime TV series, as the Demon Slayers fell through Muzan’s Infinity Castle and were forcefully separated from each other.
Moving forward in hopes of finding each other and Muzan, the Demon Slayers encounter several Upper Rank demons, where the characters’ growth, power, and emotional backstories are showcased and introduced.
Sinobu Kocho and her student, Kanao Tsuyuri, encounter an Upper Rank gearing up for an epic battle. The film is teasing around the bug Hashira, as she concocts the perfect poison against the powerful demon for the next movie of the trilogy.
The film showed the different sword breathing techniques and the driving forces of the Demon Slayer Corps, and why they became demon slayers. The demons’ own stories were also shown, presenting the depths of their personalities and how they became demons.
The movie also presented some unserious moments between the characters that brought laughter, switching from epic battle scenes to the iconic funny faces.
The much-awaited rematch with Akaza also finally commenced, after highlighting the said demon in one of the main visuals for this film. It is the most anticipated battle by fans of both the manga and the anime. It’s an emotional rollercoaster ride that would leave fans in shambles, on how beautifully executed the scene was, on how Akaza’s backstory was revealed, which was already proven by Ufotable on how flawlessly they portray each character, and how viewers can be emotionally attached even if they ended up evil.
Muzan, hidden in the depths of his castle, taunts the Demon Slayer Corps, showing the buildup tension between the characters and the final battle on its way. The movie has translated what was in the manga to a certain extent, which will feel satisfying for the manga-only viewers.
The film tackles the recurring theme from the anime, the fight between good and evil, along with how far vengeance could go for humans and demons.
OVERALL
If you aren’t familiar yet with Kimetsu no Yaiba and are open to starting somewhere in the series, but are not picky on spoilers, just like me, I think this start of the movie trilogy is something for you.
Additionally, for the fans who have been on the edge of their seats waiting for the continuation of what was left off on the season finale and manga readers who have been looking forward to the sick fighting moves, the visuals and animation are something to marvel at and enjoy.
While we have been left in awe with the last season’s animation of Muzan’s destruction of the Ubuyashiki household, the first movie of the trilogy still gave us something to admire and take our breaths away. Ufotable, who is in charge of the screenplay of the film, has maintained its delivery of consistency, still reaching heights and setting the bar of animation styles with the combination of 2D and 3D elements in terms of showing the intensity of all the fights, destruction, and carnage in the world of Kimetsu no Yaiba.
The film’s theme songs also heightened the experience of the battles with Aimer, who performed “A World Where the Sun Never Rises” and “Shine in a Cruel Night” sung by LiSA.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle is an action-packed movie where the clashing of swords will get you holding your breath, clutching your tissues as you revisit each character’s growth, and as you exit the cinema, you will feel the hype and excitement of waiting for the next part of the movie.
